The worst pains of all: poverty, the ruin of the poor. (Prov. 19:4) The poor are disliked even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends. (Prov. 19:7) The poor are shunned by all their relatives; how much more do their friends avoid them? Though the poor pursue them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.

Be a helping hand. (Prov. 4:19) It says, “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deeds.” Also, (Prov. 14:31), “Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” Be a neighbor of compassion, a merciful relative, and a faithful friend. The poor need your help.
